I really enjoyed the tv series “Being Erica”, not only for it’s Canadiana but also because of all the great music it used.  Like “Where does the good go?’ by Tegan and Sara.

Being Erica 30 Day Challenge → Day 8 Favourite Ship - Dr. Tom / Erica

I know some of you are probably suprised the top spot didn’t go to Kai/Erica but come on now, Dr Tom & Erica are the heart of this show and the whole reason I fell in love with it in the first place. For me, this relationship was never romantic, although I know some people felt it was and after speaking with the writers you would not be entirely incorrect in interpreting it that way. There was going to be something - not a relationship as such, but a relationship in a past life which was scrapped, which would explain those moments that seemed romantic. However, both Michael Riley & Erin Karpluk always made it clear they did not see it that way and that’s my opinion, too. And that’s why I liked it.
 Although the show is called ‘Being Erica’, for me it always about the relationship between these two and that’s why, after a somewhat disappointing final season, I was glad the finale focused on this. It was satisfying. And the way it ended, with Erica having that added connection to Tom even though they can no longer see eachother, makes it all the more bittersweet.

I chose to gif their last scene together because…do I have to explain it? It was beautiful. It was right and it was real. (Although, this wouldn’t TECHNICALLY be their last scene chronologically…Well, not for Erica anyway but it is the last time Dr. Tom sees her. Oh wow, this show is complicated). I love the little things in this scene; how it is Erica who says Goodbye first, how Dr. Tom finally admits how important Erica is to him, The perfect quote…gah….

Being Erica 30 Day Challenge → Day 12 Third Favourite Episode- 2.05 ‘Yes We Can’

“Why can’t I? It’s a question that never goes away. Our whole lives are spent chafing against the rules, pushing back the boundaries, trying to find the loophole. Over and over, we resist any attempt to box us in, to curtail our freedom. We ask the question ‘Why can’t I?’ and when the answer comes back, we never like what we hear.”

I should have posted this yesterday but Tumblr was being a bitch. Anyway, my third favourite episode is ‘Yes We Can’. The concept behind it is what makes it so awesome - having the chance to live a day when you can do absolutely anything and nothing will stick, it will all be erased. I loved Erica’s journey in this episode, the initial freedom followed by the inevitable consequences.

This was also the first time we really got to know Kai and I distinctly remember it was this episode that made me won over by him (initially I wasn’t sure). It was also the episode where Kai first sang ‘Alien Like You’ which is epic in of itself.

All the music in this episode was awesome, too.

Oh, and how could I forget? There was also naked Dr. Tom. We also got nearly naked Kai AND nearly naked Ethan. That alone makes this episode a win.
